Dr. James McConnell, DCE
Thirty years ago, Jim McConnell was serving as a Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, and Vacation Bible School coordinator in his congregation. His pastor approached him about entering into full-time ministry as a DCE, and he hasn't looked back! After serving as parish DCE for 23 years in California, Michigan, and North Carolina, Jim became the founding director of the DCE program at Concordia University Texas. Jim's passion in ministry is helping young men and women develop their God-given skills to offer themselves in service to our Lord. Jim and his wife Charlotte have three daughters and four grandsons.

Are we allowing others to risk burnout in their volunteer ministry because we over-commit and can't say, "No!"? Reflect on a list of practical ways to avoid burnout in the field of youth ministry.
Good Youth Ministry Knows its Foundation 8/4/2008
There's no one way to build youth ministry...but good youth ministry knows its foundations. Dr. Jim McConnell explores the concept of good youth ministry and how you can evaluate your program.
